Community Workshop and Sometime Men's Shed

Our Community Workshop and sometime Men's Shed is going to work with the Welwyn Schools Partnership creating 'Fab Lab' space for programming, coding, and electronics projects for parents (sometimes grandparents) and their children.

Pi-Base will open as a centre for learning, homework club, after-school club, holiday workshop and family learning base, at the moment only on Saturdays but, in time, will also offer 'PI-Base on the road' for schools and libraries in Hertfordshire.

We will start by offering the 10 electronics projects devised by Simon Monk

Pi-Base will eventually offer activities for all, at all educational Key Stages of the National Curriculum in Computing  and beyond, and  PI-Base will also offer specialist ASD and SEN Provision.

This will  allow young people to progress through, Lego Education WeDo,  turtle graphics and Python and game development through pygame and Python and CodeSkulptor and Python  (the Pi in Pi-Base stands for Python).

We will work with NCFE towards nationally recognised qualifications, for those that want to take this path, and beyond for those interested in IoT development.
